The Louisiana State University System records consist of correspondence, administrative files, reports, financial records, legal documents, academic records, photographs, minutes, budgets, blueprints, and printed material pertaining to academic issues, the physical plant, membership in various academic organizations, athletics, and other affairs of the Louisiana State University System and six of its campuses between 1916 and 1979. The records pertain to issues of planning and construction of buildings such as the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, Center for Engineering and Business Administration (now Patrick Taylor Hall), the Libraries, the Life Sciences Building, the LSU Union, and other buildings, and the establishment of LSU-New Orleans (now the University of New Orleans) and LSU-Shreveport. Also included are records pertaining to the establishment of the LSU Foundation, the Faculty Senate, Louisiana Coordinating Council for Higher Education and its successor agency the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Louisiana Constitutional Convention of 1973, the LSU Alumni Association, athletics, business affairs, institutional research, and the medical centers in New Orleans and Shreveport.
